Job Description Job Description Description: SUMMARY: The
Academic Tutor will play a key role in supporting the educational
needs of children in the San Bernardino Wraparound program. The
position requires a passionate and empathetic individual with a
strong educational background, patience, and the ability to work
collaboratively with mental health professionals to create a
supportive learning environment. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The San
Bernardino Wrap program is a community-based, family-centered,
needs-driven program designed to maintain children with emotional
disturbances in the community at the lowest level of care possible.
The goal of the program is to reduce the risk of out-of-home
placement and recidivism by brining individuals, agencies and the
community together as the decision-making team with the central
focus being to meet the needs of the child and family. Services
assist in supporting the mental health needs of children and their
families, allowing safe and appropriate care, and promoting
coordination and collaboration in care planning efforts with the
Children and Family Team (CFT) and other child-serving agencies.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree
Experience with providing education services and support to
children Relevant experience working with youth in a mental
health/social service setting and/or 2 years experience working
with youth. Licensure, Registration, Certification Valid CA
driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Completion of
CPR/First Aid/ProACT certification within the first thirty (30)
days of employment. Requirements: JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to children with mental health
challenges, tailoring instruction to meet individual learning
needs. Assist children in completing homework assignments and
understanding class materials. Offer guidance and support in areas
where additional help is needed. Work collaboratively with mental
health professionals to integrate academic support with mental
health interventions. Communicate regularly to ensure a holistic
approach to each child's development. Track and document the
academic progress of each child. Provide regular updates to
parents, caregivers, and mental health professionals. Be aware of
potential academic challenges arising from mental health crises and
provide appropriate support and accommodations. Develop and curate
educational resources that align with the unique needs of children
facing mental health challenges. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly with children
facing mental health challenges. Understanding of mental health
issues affecting children and ability to respond with empathy.
Strong communication and collaboration skills. Patience and
adaptability in working with diverse learning needs. Commitment to
maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. Management
