Serving the needs of the Medicaid population requires a well-oiled machine. Outcome of the Role
The Regional Dentist's mission is to oversee a team of dentists within a geographic region of similar situated Practices. The regional dentist's scope of practice is to drive performance across 5 key areas, including quality of care, patient service experience, compliance, training and efficiency, and teammate satisfaction/culture within the Practices.--

--- Regularly review metrics and reports of providers' performance across the five performance areas (quality, service, compliance, efficiency, culture)
--- Effectively coach providers to optimal performance and to clinical best practices, leveraging the Practices' Owner(s), Lead Dentists and Hero's Chief Dental Officer, or other resources as needed
--- Oversee clinical procedures on an ongoing basis--
--- Participate in conducting aspects of internal investigations and other inquires/investigations in collaboration with Hero's Chief Dental Officer and Chief Compliance Officer

--- Deliver direct patient care approximately 90% of the time, possibly including care via general anesthesia (varies by practice)--
--- Work with practice managers and Lead Dentists to align dentist coverage with patient needs at each Practice

--- Oversee the providers in all aspects of Human Resources, including providing input to the Practice Owner in hiring decisions, conducting regular performance reviews, and delivering corrective action plans as needed (in partnership with the Regional Director of Operations in some instances)--
--- Mentor and ensure Lead Dentists are effectively directing patient care in the practice
--- Oversee, coordinate and manage schedule and patient flow with providers and non-provider teammates to ensure the delivery of high quality, appropriate care to all patients
--- Independently identify gaps and issues among providers' performance--
--- Actively address observed issues and opportunities among provider team

--- Supervise on-site audits and ensure certifications are up to date for staff in partnership with Practice Manager--
--- Coordinate administrative components of on-boarding in partnership with the Hero Practice Support Center

--- Train newly hired dentists including: case discussions, case review,---and---direct demonstration/observation of associate dentist performing procedures for instructional purposes--
Minimum Qualifications [provide 4-6 minimum qualification]
--- 5 years' experience in practice setting with at least 3 years involving pediatric dental care--
--- Minimum one year of experience in a leadership management position of a dental practice including management of more than one associate doctor
--- License to practice dentistry in all states of the Practices in the region
--- Command of dental concepts and skillset, including thorough knowledge and experience in pediatric dentistry; must be comfortable having other dentists directly observe them in treatment for education and training purposes
--- Engages and inspires others to meet the Practice's goals.--
--- Experience improving others' skills, talents, and aspirations.
--- Identifies issues and resolves problems in a timely manner; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.--
--- Ability to summarize information and succinctly communicate verbally and in writing.--
--- Ability to effectively present information and to interact with all teammates.--
--- Microsoft Office: Proficient at Microsoft Word and Excel.
--- Able to easily navigate typical applications, including those used for the Practices' EMR and HR information.
Travel
This position requires frequent travel to Practices within the designated region. The Regional Dentist is expected to be in the Practices on a full-time basis allocating approximately 10% of his/her time to leadership and administrative activities and 90% of his/her time to delivering patient care at the Practices. Travel to Colorado up to 4 weeks per year for training.
Physical Requirements
This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.--
Work is performed in a dental office which is a clinical and office environment. Regional Dentists are occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals; therefore, compliance with proper safety and OSHA standards is required. This role routinely utilizes standard dental and office equipment.
