manage, guide, lead and motivate your staff team to engage in
meaningful activities, help children bridge the gap from one school
year to the other, lead day campers through some really cool field
trips and splash around in the summer sun while keeping everyone
safe in the pool. Be the leader your were born to be, as you manage
a day camp program, engage families, navigate through risk and
safety, complete administrative duties and rise to the top of the

- Must be 25 years-old or older and possess a high school diploma
or equivalent
- Passion for working with elementary-aged children in a
recreational setting
- High spirit and desire to uplift, elevate, mentor and guide day
camp counselors and camp group leaders
- Strong communication and organizational skills. Must have an
eye for details, particular around safety and risk management
- Human-centered; able to relate well to parents, caregivers,
school administrators, community partners and colleagues
- Ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for all
- Eagerness to contribute to a diverse and inclusive
community
- Ability to attend all pre-camp trainings and development
sessions (see below)
- This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass

Trainings: In order to work for the YMCA this summer, all day camp
hires are required to attend the following trainings, listed below.
If you cannot attend the trainings listed below, we will
unfortunately not be able to employ you at the YMCA this summer. At
the Y, we believe that training is an essential component of
running a safe and engaging youth development program. Please
review the training dates and self-reflect to determine if you are
available to attend all trainings. Once you have confirmed that you
can attend all trainings, please continue and apply. All trainings
are paid trainings. In addition, the YMCA offers free CPR/First Aid
classes for all summer employees, which are also paid
trainings:
You must attend a total of three (3) trainings. In addition to the
three (3) trainings listed below, if you are not currently
certified in CPR/First Aid, you may attend an additional CPR/First
Aid certification training offered by the YMCA. You must attend one
(1) training from GROUP A, one (1) training from Group B and the
training offered in Group C

Additional training and on-site program prep will also be required.
All training hours are paid.

trainings throughout the season in the following areas: child abuse
prevention, mandated reporting, positive discipline and child
guidance, supervision and safety, risk management, programming,
active shooter, diversity & inclusion, anti-bullying, communication
