Job Description Charge Capture Specialist Hybrid/Remote
(Throughout California) Salary $44 to $48 per hour Full-time,

is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Charge Capture
Specialist to join our client’s team, focusing specifically on
Pathology lab orders. This critical role ensures compliance,
accuracy, and timely revenue capture by conducting daily audits and
managing complex interactions with various internal departments and
external partners. The Specialist is a key accountability holder
for billing activities and works collaboratively to identify and
resolve charging and coding errors. Key Responsibilities Daily
Charge Audits: Perform daily audits of Pathology lab orders,
including facility reconciliations and manual charge entry, under
the direction of the OP Lab Manager. Error Resolution: Review,
analyze, and resolve exceptions and errors within Charge Review
Work Queues (WQ) related to Lab Charges and Coding, ensuring timely
corrections to protect Accounts Receivable. Compliance & Education:
Follow all internal and external regulatory/compliance guidelines.
Assist the Manager in providing updated information and formal
education to lab staff and Charge Capture Coordinators.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a primary point of
contact, interacting frequently with the Manager, Director of
Revenue & Reimbursement, Charge Master Manager, providers, IT
staff, billing coders, and internal/external audit representatives.
Billing Oversight: Accountable for daily billing operations,
including collaborative work with the LIS Analyst and overseeing
the Charge Capture Coordinator staff to ensure WQs are worked, and
billing is completed daily. Meetings & Consultation: Provide
specialized technical knowledge of billing and attend required
weekly Lab working sessions with consultants and the Revenue
Integrity team. Education & Certification High school diploma
required; Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred. Medical
Billing and Coding Certificate is required. Experience Minimum five
years (open to two) of Lab Charge Capture and billing experience
required. Minimum two years of experience in a clinical setting OR
two years of administrative support experience. EPIC Charge Capture
experience preferred. Skills & Knowledge Advanced expertise in lab
coding, CMS coding, and billing regulations, and the charge capture
audit application. Strong understanding of charge capture processes
and the ability to read and comprehend patient charts. Thorough
knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance, HIMS, HIPAA, and
coding rules, with a commitment to maintaining complex,
confidential medical records. Proficiency with Windows and
Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience using EPIC and
SOFT (LAB LIS) software systems. Excellent verbal and written
English communication and public relations skills. Exceptional
organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
and interruptions. Proven ability to work effectively as a team
